Western painter Summer Spitsbergen recently opened her own gallery, Gallery Summer, in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. The gallery is located in the heart of downtown Pagosa Springs, in the inspiring land of the Southwest and not far from Santa Fe, New Mexico. From landscapes to wildlife to Western art, collectors will find a variety of one-of-a-kind paintings inspired by the West. The gallery will represent Spitsbergen’s work, which is also represented by Mark Sublette Medicine Man Gallery in Tucson, Arizona. The artist will also have work in The Russell and the Out West Art Show, both of which run from March 20 through 22 in Great Falls, Montana.

“I’ve been around horses since I was a young girl, and I have been drawing them for as long as I can remember,” the Oregon-based artist says. “Art has always been an area in my life where true freedom is felt. Painting the landscape seems to come naturally as well because a lot of my time is spent outside in rural America where big clouds blow across the open ranges and mountains.” —
